Local Impact Notes

Local impact notes assess proposed legislation's fiscal impact on local units of government. Analysis of the revenue or spending impact is collected from varied local units of government and compiled in a consolidated analysis.

The chair or the ranking minority member of the House or Senate Tax, Finance, or Ways and Means Committee may request a local impact note for any proposed legislation (Minnesota Statute 3.987) not subject to the exceptions noted in Minnesota Statute 3.988.

The LBO coordinates the development of a reasonable and timely local impact note and posts completed local impact notes on this page.
